Issues that matter to East Texans:
Our public schools need to be properly funded and competently managed. Teachers need to be paid fairly and treated with respect. It is important that training and education programs lead to quality jobs and productive careers.
As a society, we have a responsibility to make educational and training opportunities available to our young adults at a reasonable cost. We shouldn’t saddle college students with crippling debt that prevents them from fully participating in our economy after graduation.
We need a smarter, fairer, and more effective criminal justice system. Everyone should be equal before the law, regardless of race, income, or social position. Trials should be held promptly. Everyone should have fair access to bail. Reforming our criminal justice system should be a national priority.
Everyone should be able to get medical care when they need it. As a society, we need to find a way of sharing the burden of paying — in an effective and efficient manner — for a basic level of health care for everyone. We need to protect and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid.
I will work with our cities and counties to support our entrepreneurs and our local, small, and family-owned businesses; we need to attract and retain businesses that offer good-paying jobs and that treat employees fairly and with respect.
I support meaningful immigration reform that affirms our commitment to welcoming immigrants into this country in a safe and orderly manner. Congress should act immediately to pass a "clean" Dream Act to protect the millions of young people who came here as infants and children with their parents.
We should be good stewards of the planet. Like individuals, businesses should be expected to clean up their own messes. As a society, we must respond to climate change. I would fight efforts to strip environmental safeguards that protect our air and water.
As your representative, I will fight for equal opportunities for everyone: the working class, rural communities, women, minorities, and LGBT. I believe it is important to focus on shared values — such as equal treatment before the law and equal opportunities for education and job training--rather than promote the interests of specific individual groups.
Brent has served in different leadership roles over the years, although this is his first campaign for public office. He firmly believes in smart, effective government that reflects the priorities and values of its citizens.Read More
Why We Support Brent
I think it is past time we have someone in CD-1 that represents all the people in the District and not just a select few, I believe Brent will listen to all of the people and bring respect back, his ability to listen &communicate ask Constituents how he can help families with Healthcare, paying for Education, helping Teachers receive pay raises. Brent has generated more interest than any other Candidate since Gohmert was elected.
With all of the pressing policy issues—like healthcare and rural poverty-- facing our country and especially our 1st Congressional district, we need to elect a smart, serious person to represent us. Brent Beal is smart, serious, and hardworking, and he listens to us and understands the challenges we face. Please join me in supporting Brent.
For too long, Louie Gohmert has not only represented us poorly in Washington, but also been a major embarrassment to East Texas. I can't think of a better person to replace him than Brent Beal. Brent is a wonderful father and husband, a hard-working business professor, and a person that truly cares for East Texans and the needs that we have. He is down-to-earth and highly approachable, but also one of the smartest people I know. I am proud to call Brent a close friend, but I also want to call him my congressman. You should too.
I am supporting Brent Beal for Congress because East Texas has gone without effective representation in Congress for far too many years. Brent is intelligent, committed and hard-working. He would be a strong voice for this district’s residents at a time in our political history when it is sorely needed.
